Branched polyethyleneglycol derivatives of defined molecular weight

SPAGO Imaging is developing a nano-particle based contrast agent for MRI with unique signal intensity and safety profile. The nanoparticles are based on gadolinium rich cores, stabilized by a silicate encapsulation and made water soluble by a bioinert PEG (polyethylenglycol) coating. The PEG coating constitutes an important part of the nano particles, hence the interest in development of novel PEG chemistry.

The objective of the project is to investigate novel branched PEG¬ compounds recently developed by SPAGO Imaging.

The project will primarily be focused at optimization of the synthesis of strategic starting materials, especially at larger scale (5 liter) and a continued development of novel branched PEG compounds with suitable functionalities for modification of proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides, antibody fragments, small molecule drugs, catalysts, surfaces and particles. Depending on the progress, synthesized branched PEG derivatives will be connected to a target molecule and the conjugate will be evaluated.
