Optimisation of a detector for radiation therapy

Radiation therapy is one of the most important treatment modalities when curing cancer patients. A novel detector for optimisation of the radiation treatment has been invented and a first prototype exists.
The task of this diploma work will be to calculate the optimal design of the detector and thereafter install and test the new parts. The project is a joint venture between Karolinska Institutet (KI) and Kungl. Tekniska Högskolan (KTH), and the work will take place at KTH.
We require that you have knowledge about the interaction of ionising radiation with matter and it is a plus if you have previous experience of experimental work.
