Cross validation of vector signal analyser and sensor node measurements
sensor networks. One way is to use high quality instrumentation to
capture channel and interference characteristics with high precision
over wide frequency ranges. Another way is to use real sensor nodes to
more easily capture a large number of channels with realistic
deployments. An unanswered question is how these two different methods
of measuring relate to each other.
The task of this thesis is to perform simultaneous easurements with
vector signal instrumentation and sensor nodes in order to analyse and
compare the measurement methodologies. The results of this work can be
applied to other measurement tasks where sensor node measuring would
simplify and speed up matters.
The master thesis is performed in the Uppsala VINN Excellence Center
for Wireless Sensor Networks (WISENET). WISENET is one of the leading
multi-disciplinary center for wireless senor networks. The thesis is
co-supervised by researchers at Uppsala University and the Networked
Embedded Systems Group, one of the leading European groups in
sensor networks at the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS).
While the thesis is not paid, we will reward very good thesis work
with a lump sum.
Candidates must have an understanding of wireless networking and some
knowledge on C-programming is required. Experience with embedded
systems is a plus. Candidates also must have analytical skills and
should be prepared to handle large amounts of data.
