Brazed Aluminium cycled ageing behavior

OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
TitanX Engine Cooling develops, manufactures and sells engine-cooling components and modules to the global commercial vehicle market. Most of the coolers follow a similar manufacturing process with the use of brazing technology.
For water radiators and charge-air coolers specifically, the heat-exchange cores are manufactured in aluminum. In real use, the components are exposed to high pulsating pressures in combination with varying low/high temperatures and heavy vibrations. For heavy and severe applications, heat-treatable alloys may be used, which are derivatives of AA6000-series, with natural of artificial ageing.
When the heat-exchanger is installed in the vehicle and put to use, it is the unsteady driving conditions that will settle the ageing, somewhere half-way between natural and artifical. Similarly in testing the first cycles will impact the ageing condition.
TitanX is permanently looking for better methods to, early in the design stage, simulate and predict strength and life of the components. This can be achieved by generating better material data and improving simulation methodologies.
TitanX propose to co-operate with a university sharing a thesis work in the field of cycled ageing of aluminium. This means to increase the knowledge in aluminum material behavior and develop modeling methods to improve the accuracy in FE-simulations.
