High-throughput molecular data analysis

This is a unique opportunity to combine an ex-jobb with a research preparatory course for candidates to a PhD program at MEB, KI.
We run a 20-week training program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. The minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree, 180 academic credits corresponding to three years full-time education. The course starts Monday August 30, 2010.
General description of the topic:
Methods of high-throughput molecular data analysis to understand factors driving important diseases. Students must have a background in statistics/ mathematics/ computer science and either biology or medicine. This can imply formal education in one field and demonstrated experience in the other. The candidates are expected to have strong motivation to solve scientific problems by developing and applying advanced analytical tools. Example topics: 1) Susceptibility and resistance to cancer therapy in the light of molecular heterogeneity of tumors; 2) Statistical algorithms to infer causality in models including both molecular data and clinical phenotypes.
