Thesis work: Analysis of the economics in a new energy innovation.
The main advantages of the SeaTwirl are simplicity, the advantage of using sheep materials and the energy storage capacity. SeaTwirl therefore has the potential to stand as a common provider of energy and short time energy storage in a future sustainable society. SeaTwirl is developed by the small company Ehrnberg Solutions AB. The company will during spring 2011 build and test a SeaTwirl 1:50 prototype. In parallel to this work the economics of a 1:50 scale unit as well as a full scale unit with total heights up to 500m will have to be studied.

The student/s is to study the economics of the SeaTwirl technology. Analysis of the economics and investment cost at different scales and materials. Set up a calculator that calculates the cost per produced and stored energy unit as cost/kWh.
The thesis is to provide the answer to the following questions:
• What will the investment cost be in 1:50 scale and full scale when the technology, factories and infrastructure is established?
• what is the economical potential of the SeaTwirl technology in 1:50 scale and in full scale?
• what will the cost per produced and stored energy unit be in scale 1:50 and in full scale?
The thesis can be performed individually or by two students. The student/s will have a supervisor at the university, and at Ehrnberg Solutions AB. To qualify, you should have knowledge about economics, investment costs and an interest in renewable energy is advantageous. Most of the ex-job work will be done from home or at the university. Final report shall be in English.
