Gene networks and systems biology
OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
Master projects in gene network research (a.k.a. systems biology) are available at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics of Karolinska Institutet.
Your project will be dedicated to understanding an important disease in the gene network context. Possible topics include:
1. Networks combining molecular and phenotypic data;
2. Molecular heterogeneity of tumors and cancer therapy;
3. Causality in network models;
4. Network topology analysis.
Students must have a background in statistics/ mathematics/ computer science and either biology or medicine. This can imply formal education in one field and certain experience in the other. The candidates are expected to have high level of motivation to solve scientific problems by developing and applying advanced analytical tools.
After successfully completing a master project, we could consider opportunities to continue as PhD student. As an example, the project can be combined with attending a research preparatory course for candidates to a PhD program at MEB, KI:
