Migration of human fetal and adult multipotent mesenchymal stem cells.

OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
The bone marrow consists of hematopoietic stem cells, which form blood cells and multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) that give rise to connective tissues. MSC are defined as multipotent cells that can generate bone, cartilage, tendon, muscle, marrow stroma and adipose tissue. MSC has two unique effects on the immune system; 1. they escape recognition by the immune system and 2. they inhibit the proliferation of immune cells.
The aim of this project is to study how human adult MSC and fetal MSC migrate against different stimuli and different types of cells. Differences between fetal and adult MSC will also be analysed.
