Ultra Low Energy Battery

OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
The two main cornerstones in process automation, especially for biological based products, are: the identification function allowing secure automatic individual tracking, and the data recording function.
For that purpose RFID-transponders for wood were developed In the EC-project Indisputable key (www.indisputablekey.com) also Semi-Passive (SP) RFID transponders were patented to enable an increased reading distance and storing of moisture data for logs from harvesting to industry.
The SP-transponder is active in moist wood (the Ultra Low Energy Battery – ULEB - consists only of electrodes - the electrolyte is the surrounding moist wood).
The ULEB works in high wood moisture – in logs some weeks after felling. During this period logs are transported from the felling site to road side and loaded on trucks for transportation to the industry.
The ULEB energy will be studied concerning descending moisture level in freshly cut logs and long term effects based on material diffusion from electrodes.
The Diploma Work concern both numerical simulations and laboratory tests.

Time schedule November 2010 – April 2011
