== We are looking for master students ==

Wussap is looking for ambitious graduate students who would be interested in doing their master thesis project within the field of cutting-edge web development based on the framework Node.js.

Node.js is very interesting and upcoming framework used for writing highly scalable and fast network programs such as web servers, using JavaScript(!)

The general direction in the master thesis project is to construct the basis of a presence and Instant Messaging (IM) system which is comparable with our current Wussap system, using the Node.js framework.

The following bullets are suggested research areas, and should also give a hint on the key technologies that are of interest, in addition to advanced JavaScript and Node.js:

* Distributing and scaling a server-client system similar to Wussap across several servers, but still being able to manage a global state between the nodes.

* Optimization of a distributed system similar to Wussap using a “NoSQL” backend, such as Redis or MongoDb.

* Identifying IM protocol bottle necks and comparing the performance of the XML based protocol XMPP with a custom designed protocol that could be build on top of WebSocket or Socket.IO and based on JSON.
