Master Thesis: Non Contact Test Point

As one of the major players in the telecom industry we would of course like to offer students the possibility to do the thesis work within Ericsson and we are now looking for talented students soon to become the next generation of engineers that have a major interest in telecom HW and SW products and systems.
The unit that now are able to present the following thesis is Core & Common Component Hardware (CCC HW) and is part of the HW Design unit within Design Unit Radio with a responsibility to provide competitive and cost effective common HW/FW components and platform HW for Common Components, CPP, AXE, TSP, IS, M-MGW, SBG, IS-MGW, AXD301, Access nodes and SmartEdge router HW. CCC HW has operations in Stockholm, Älvsjö, but also in Budapest. The thesis work is in Älvsjö.
In electrical design verification and fault search it is important to measure signals. Oscilloscope is the main instrument in observing and measure a digital signal. High speed signals, 5Gbps and higher, are very sensitive to loads. If a measurement probe is connected to this type of signals the load from a probe on the signal will destroy the signal and the measurement result will not represent the actual signal. By observe the signal through a capacitive coupling section or a cross-talk section the influence on the signal will be small. This measurement through a capacitive coupling section or a cross-talk section is called 'non contact test points'.
The object of this thesis is to develop a method and technique for non contact test points. Also to develop a MATLAB program to calculate and view the signal to observed from the measured signal.
- We are looking for a high performing, soon to become newly graduated physic engineer, electrical engineer or similar with target of M.Sc. or B.Sc degree
- Good skills and interest in MATLAB
- Hardware competence and interest is a must
- You should be driven, out-going, innovative and creative, self-motivated, learn quickly and focused on achieving results
- Good communicative skills in Swedish and English
