GE Healthcare Life Sciences in Uppsala develops and markets various types of products for the separation and analysis of proteins. The Lab Media department develops new research products for protein purification and sample preparation. A large portion of the products we develop in the department are bead based and used in liquid chromatography.

We hereby announce a master thesis within the Lab Media department to examine the possibility to characterize chromatography medium in a small scale column and interpret how it will behave in large scale.

The thesis work includes the following components:
* Experimental planning
* Experimental column packing.
* Experimental characterization of packed columns.
* Result interpretation.
* Report writing (english)

Qualifications
* Education in biochemistry/analytical chemistry in the stage of exam work.
* Practical experience of laboratory work

Desired
* Structured and goal oriented
* Able to work in-dependently, with support of supervisor
* Knowledge in analytical chemistry and protein purification (chromatography)

Application and Information
The master thesis project will cover 30 ETCS and will preferably start in August/September 2011.
