Software Utilization Analyzer and System Enhancer using Log Files

Background

Scania’s electronic control units control and supervise Scania’s heavy duty vehicles. To guarantee that faults in the vehicles do not lead to dangerous situations, the vehicles are supervised by diagnostic systems. In workshops, the information from the vehicle is presented to the mechanics using a diagnostic tool. The tool includes both, user interfaces to the vehicle information, troubleshooting guides, and general product information. Since these type of tools are used by thousands of mechanics each day, it is important that correct functionality is available and that the tool have the optimal calibration.

Assignment

To extract software utilization statistics from log files created by the Scania diagnostic software tools. To visualize the statistics of the software utilization. To identify successful and unsuccessful repairs. To provide feedback for automatic software calibration enhancements. To enhance the log functionality in the
service market tool to further improve the above assignments.
