Design and Implementation of WirelessHART sub-system on a System-on-Chip radio

OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
Thesis Background
WirelessHART is a recently developed communication protocol which targets industrial automation applications. It uses IEEE 802.15.4-2006 compatible radios operating in the 2.4GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical radio band. The radios employ direct-sequence spread spectrum technology and channel hopping for communication security and reliability, as well as TDMA synchronized, latency-controlled communications between devices on the network.
Currently there is only one supplier who provides a complete WirelessHART radio solution (radio chip and software stack) built on proprietary hardware. However this is changing as several vendors are close to provide WirelessHART software stacks running on standard IEEE802.15.4 radio chips. The latest trend among these chip vendors is to provide radio solutions which are completely contained within a single-chip, e.g., System-on-Chip (SoC) and Network-on-Chip (NoC) solutions. These solutions contain the radio transceiver, amplifier, microcontroller, and a complete communication stack.

Problem Statement
With the introduction of the new WirelessHART stacks, which runs on standard 802.15.4 radios the existing radio sub-system code must be adapted to the new hardware and stack interface.
The master thesis is to design and implement a wireless sub-system on a System-on-Chip (SoC) radio hardware. The work also includes an analysis of differences between the existing radio sub-system and the new SoC sub-system.

Requirements
Students in MSc programs in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, and Computer Engineering or similar is suited for this job. Candidates are expected to have a solid knowledge of embedded systems and knowledge of wireless communication theory and systems. Good embedded systems design, programming skills (C/C++), and low level programming knowledge are required.
Please indicate a list of courses with marks and a CV in your application.
