Security Evaluation of ’Single Sign-On’ Solution
From a security perspective, analyze and evaluate an existing ‘Single Sign-On’ system designed
to handle authentication between multiple web-based applications and sites. The evaluation can be done from a “white box” or “black box” perspective, i.e. with or without
knowledge of how the system works internally, or a combination of both.
Possible starting points for the evaluation include:
•Choice and usage of protocols and security mechanisms
•Cross site scripting (XSS)
•System behavior under stress
•Testing and publishing routines
The result of the evaluation will greatly influence continued development of the system.
The system is based on Java EE 5 and uses the Struts and Hibernate frameworks. It runs on
the application server Tomcat 5.5.
We are looking for students with a genuine interest in software security and with good knowledge about security problems for web-based applications. We think you have taken courses and/or performed projects in areas such as computer security, computer networks
HTTP and SSL/TSL.

We are currently 8 people working on this system and related projects, and have an office on the Chalmers Johanneberg campus.
