Fibre bonding affecting mechanosorptive creep

OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
Fibres and fibre material deforms with time when subjected to a load. When the climate is varied this effect is increased. This increased deformation is called mechanosorptive creep and is the cause why boxes fails in varying climate leading to large economic losses. A method for determining this mechanosorptive creep for singe fibres has recently been developed at STFI-Packforsk.
Single fibres show increased creep in varying climate, as do paper. However it is not clearly established if the effect on paper also includes effects from the structure of the fibre network and effects from fibre-fibre bonds. To help to clarify this matter mechanosorptive creep of different fibre-fibre bonds combinations will be tested in order to assess the role of the fibre bonds in determining mechano-sorptive creep .
The work includes handling of single fibres under light microscope. The effect of varying climate will be tested in a DMA, a small tensile tester, equipped with a humidity generator. Different geometrical arrangement of the fibre bonding will be analysed.
