Painterly rendering in real time for 3D games

OBS! ANSÖKNINGSTIDEN FÖR DETTA EXJOBB HAR LÖPT UT.
Some work has been done already by others in this area.
However we want a complete solution for the new graphics hardware
arriving next year with Microsofts release of DirectX10.

We want to solve how to take advantage of the new geometry shader in the new graphics cards and how to produce the geometry needed on the fly using the new hardware.

Earlier works has done this with to passes but not really in realtime for complex scenes. Now it might be done in one pass and our hope is that it will be useful for our games.

The right candidate for this examwork is someone that understands english very well and C++ programming and have been using OpenGL and/or DirectX.

A huge interest in games and real time 3D graphics and an eye for art is also important. We don't want a technical nerd that dosn't understand what we are looking for when we talk a about multi colored gradients on shadows that follows none traditional 3D engine of how light works.

We need someone who understands how to make that work with hard and soft shadows and painterly 3D rendering using the new geometry shader.

We would like you to explore bent paint strokes as well if the hardware allows that.

You will work using DirectX10 and it's software reference raster which is really slow until we get the hardware which is one or two years from know.

You might find that the geometry shader is not suitable for this and there is perhaps other ways of doing it. But it should be done in real time.

Please search google for painterly rendeing in real time or just painterly rendering.
