Shortly about Telehealth Monitoring Wristwatch

Telehealth Monitoring Wristwatch (TMW) can automatically and seamlessly monitor and evaluate human vital signs, such as Pulse, Oxygen Saturation in the blood (SPO2) and ECG 1-lead. TMW is connected via an embedded cellular data link to a remote medical centre (located in Karolinska) for further analysis and monitoring by medical professionals. The TMW is intended for use by elderly people, people discharged from the hospital, or those who suffer from cardiovascular disease and need continuous medical monitoring. It enables those patients to have the required medical care, outside the hospital, while maintaining their normal life. It may detect early signs of critical conditions and warn of emergency situations. The TMW is particularly intended for mobile people, that can be monitored anywhere, anytime.

TeleMed HC Platform (TP) provided by Karolinska provides a solution for secure and reliable telemonitoring of technical and clinical data and integrating different disparate telemedicine services offered by the hospitals, regionally, nationally, and worldwide. So far it is mainly targeted towards management and support of biomedical equipments located in patients¿ homes. The platform provides necessary infrastructure to test, experiment, and conduct clinical and technical field trials. It enables end-to-end application experiments to be undertaken.

Shortly about Wireless Network

The wireless network (WN) is the cellular network infrastructure provided by TeliaSonera Sweden AB, which will be used as the medium for secure transmission of the medical information from the mobile patients, wearing the TMW units to the remote centre (TP) at the hospital.
