Investigation of plasticized PVC 10 p
The aim is to study the influence of antioxidants on the stability of plasticized PVC. The project involves preparation of samples, their analysis by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), as well as literature studies. The target is to reduce the evaporation of plasticizer from PVC. The thesis should be written in English. The project is done in co-operation with the company Nexans IKO Sweden AB, Grimsås. The project can start immediately.
Development of moisture resistant coatings for paperboard 10 p or 20 p
The aim is to investigate moisture resistant coatings for paperboard sockets made for industrial applications. Method development, studies of different concepts and laboratory trials will be involved. The project will be done in co-operation with Scandicore Svenska AB, Viared. The thesis can be written in Swedish or English. The project can start immediately.
Development of plastic pipes with enhanced barrier properties. 10 p or 20 p
There are several possibilities of thesis projects together with KWH Pipe, which is a major manufacturer of water and sewage pipes, with a production site in Borås. The projects will be done in co-operation with KWH Pipes R&D Center in Vasa, Finland. Interested students should contact Mikael Skrifvars for more information. The projects can start later this year. The projects are also suitable for students with a back-ground in business engineering (Affärsingenjör).
Development of novel bioresins from renewable resources. 10 or 20 p
There will be possibilities for students to join a research project, In-situ polymerisation of green materials, which has the goal to develop a novel bioresin, which can be used for composites. Different thesis project will be done in the project, dealing with topics such as mechanical testing, biodegradation and stability, manufacturing as well as LCA analysis. The project is funded by Vinnova, and is done together with IFPSICOMP in Mölndal. Ten companies from Sweden, Finland, Holland, Lithuania and France are also participating in the project. The project started in January 2005, and will end December 2007. Thesis projects are available through the project. The project is an excellent opportunity for students to work in a international project, with very good possibilities to get contacts to companies.
Recycling of composite materials 10 or 20 p.
The aim is to study the different possibilities to recycle composite materials. The project will involve interviews with companies and study visits. The project is suitable for students in business engineering, logistics, environmental technology or chemistry. The project can start immediately.
